February 07, 2012: New Zealand / Australia tour over
Added a source for and a setlist (thanks to Nick Davies) for Melbourne (2/01). Added setlist scan to Adelaide and a setlist to Perth. The Perth setlist seems slightly off; please email if you have more information. I have another update of old (1984-1997) stuff to add at some point.
February 03, 2012: On tour!
Added the setlist for Wayville (Adelaide), thanks to Spenno. Added notes and a supporting act to the Melbourne side show.
February 01, 2012: On tour!
Updated the Sydney Big Day Out gig and added setlists and information to both Melbourne shows.
January 28, 2012: On tour!
Added setlist, photos and notes to the Sydney Big Day Out set. Added notes and a poster to the Sydney headlining gig. Added Madrid and Luxembourg to the upcoming shows list.
January 26, 2012: On tour!
Added setlists and photos to Gold Coast and the Sydney headlining gig. "I Awake" is back!
January 22, 2012: On tour!
It's been awhile, eh? Six months to the day, to be exact. I'm still here, and still keeping the Live Guide flame alive. I hope the redirect link to the SOPA strike website didn't irritate too many of you - that shit is important.
Now down to business. I've updated all the 2011 shows with complete setlists, posters and recording information. I've also posted the setlist, a couple of photos and a setlist scan for the first show of 2012. Hopefully it won't take me as long to update the other shows on this tour. I've also posted the tour dates for this year as is known so far. There will undoubtably be more. Let us rejoice!
As for old business, I added a new show, May 17, 1989 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, thanks to the fine detective work of Gornandez. Gornandez was especially helpful in forwarding me a t-shirt with all the 1990 European dates, and thanks to him I finally have an accurate itinerary for April 1990. There were many canceled dates on this tour, which are in grey font. Thanks Gornandez! I added a new (modified) show of March 04, 1990 and added a ticket stub, thanks to Mike Ziegler. MZ also donated a setlist scan of 3/12/94, a ticket stub to 4/14/94 and helped me change the name of the venue for 2/06/87. Added a partial setlist and some information to 5/31/1994, thanks to Brett. There's more old stuff to add, and hopefully I will find time to add it to the Guide in the next few weeks / months. Thanks for your continual support and FIGHT THE POWER!
July 22, 2011: On tour!
Thanks to an unexpected morning off and two cups of strong, black coffee, I am able to bring you a new update. Not much of a surprise about what is new; I've added setlists to all shows as of today, as well as posters, support acts and photos whenever possible. I specifically want to thank Greg Prato (author of Grunge Is Dead - see link below) for sending me photos and reviews of the two New York-area shows. Thanks to everyone on the Soundgarden Web Board for adding notes for individual shows. The next update will be after the Gorge and the next after that will probably be sometime in September. Stay tuned!
July 13, 2011: On tour!
A quick update as I try to keep up with the tour.
--> Added setlists to Jones Beach, Mansfield and Fairfax. Added recordings to London, Uncasville and Mansfield. Added a poster for Fairfax.
Also, I discovered that the first show took place in December of 1984, so that has been adjusted. There will be more updates in a few days, likely after the Chicago or Red Rocks. Have fun at the shows everybody!
July 09, 2011: On tour!
It's been a busy last two months! I was waiting until the tour began to update the guide and so now here it is. In that time I got married, so you can see that I've had other things in mind. So now that my wedding is over and the tour has begun, expect regular updates at least during the tour.
First things first, setlists, recording information and posters are up for the first five shows of the tour. I won't be linking photos anymore unless they are sent to me; you have Google and Flickr for that. Sorry!
There have also been three new dates added:
July 20 Harveys Outdoor Arena At Lake Tahoe Stateline, NV, USA
July 27 Saddledome Calgary, AB, Canada
October 28 Voodoo Music Experience Festival New Orleans, LA, USA
This should give those of you in North America lots of chances to see the band this year. For those of you elsewhere, I hope your time comes soon! Me personally, I will finally see the band at The Gorge on July 30. Here's hoping for a great show with an even greater setlist. Expect a full report afterwards with pictures and scans.
As for old shows, I have added two more old dates:
* February 06, 1987 - Mubahay - San Francisco, CA, USA
* May 06, 1992 - unknown venue - Montreal, QC, Canada
Gornandez was kind enough to send in more corrections:
* 03/11/1989 - Hoboken - added "Kingdom Of Come" to setlist after "All Your Lies"
* 01/16/1992 - Toronto - added "Little Joe" to setlist after "Gun and "Beyond The Wheel" after "Mind Riot"
* 04/03/1992 - London - added "Rusty Cage" before "Outshined"
* 05/29/1994 - Bremerton - removed recording info; the two songs on Stolen Prayers are actually from 03/23/94 - Oslo. Bummer!
Gornandez was also kind enough to send me links to some posters and photos. I wasn't able to use them all but the following shows have pics and posters added:
* 02/17/1990 - Reseda - added photo
* 07/16/1994 - Del Mar - added poster
* 01/29/1997 - Newcastle - added poster
* 01/30/1997 - Sydney - added poster
I've also been busy going through my collection of live recordings and have discovered a few alternate sources:
* 06/04/1994 - Berkeley - There are audios circulating of this show that are superior to the (lossy) audio that is on the circulating DVD.
* 08/06/1994 - Barrie - the first source of this show to surface is different from the CSB upgrade that surfaced in 2010. Given that this was a festival show, it is not surprising that there is two sources of this show.
Last but not least, I would like to send out a request for more recordings of the 1994 and 1997 Australian tours. I know they have to be out there - how is it that there are only a few recordings of these tours? If you know anything or have any recordings, please let me know!
Over and out. - Matt
May 05, 2011: Tour, live album
I'm still here. I've been updating the guide over the course of the last four months but I hadn't had the time to add up all of the updates here. There's lots to report!

In other big news: finally the long-awaited 1996 live album has arrived! If you haven't done so already, be sure to pick it up, either at SG World or elsewhere. Support Soundgarden and if you get a chance, support your local record stores. In the future I will add a special page for this album when I get a chance. Obviously I have not had the time to do so as of yet. Patience!
As far as updates, I've added the following dates in 1992:
February 01, 1992 - Compton, AZ, USA
February 23, 1992 - Omaha, NE, USA
April 23, 1992 - Santa Barbara, CA, USA
A special thanks to Greg Prato, author of the excellent Grunge Is Dead, for providing me with notes and materials from the shows he attended. Please thank him by purchasing his book! You won't regret it.
Thanks to Mike Ziegler for scanning some old posters from the mid-80s. There's a bunch, so look through the mid-80s shows to find them. Mike has surfaced a lot of recordings over the years and a hearty thank you is necessary. Thanks, Mike!
Finally, I would like to thank the following people for prividing me with photo scans and photo links:
* Ian C. Stewart for photos of October 23, 1989 - Columbus, OH, USA
and March 14, 1990 - Columbus, OH, USA. Thanks Ian! The photos are excellent.
* Stéphanie Cousin for photos of April 03, 1994 - Zurich, Switzerland. Merci beaucoup, Stéphanie!
* A Finnish friend for full documentation (setlist scan, photos and a poster) of October 15, 1996 - Helsinki, Finland. Kiitos, my friend!
* John, for surfacing the audience recording of December 07, 1996 - Vancouver, BC and providing scans of the ticket stub and poster of the show. Thanks John, it was worth the wait!
Finally, I would like to thank everyone else who sent in tidbits, setlist corrections and other various informations over the past four months. It's been a long time, I realize - I've been very, very busy with my job and just haven't had a lot of free time to work on the guide - but I haven't forgotten about Soundgarden or everyone who has sent in photos, setlists and info. Thanks so much! You make it worth my while. Go see Soundgarden if you can! I'll be back later this spring with more updates.
December 31, 2010: A Quick one while they're away
A quick update for New Year's Eve. Ebay can be your friend - over the past week I've stumbled upon two outstanding finds that merit an update to the guide. The first is a series of newsletters accompanying an LP version of Louder Than Love (and it's still up for bid, I should note) that lay out the band's tour itineraries for the June - July 1990 summer European tour and the July - September 1990 tour with Danzig. Because of this I was able to clarify some venues and add the final two pieces to the puzzle that was the short summer tour that year: dates on 07/02/90 in Paris and 07/04/90 in Zurich. Two more dates were added in August 1990: 08/13/90 in Toronto, ON and 08/14/90 in Montréal, QC. Outstanding! My other find on Ebay I purchased - a roll of film shot from the photo pit in Adelaide on January 31, 1997. I scanned the roll and posted them here for your viewing pleasure. Some of the shots are outstanding, such as this beauty. I hope you dig them. A few other small updates: Added some lovely scans of ads and reviews from the March-April 1992 UK run, the June 1992 stadium run with Guns 'N Roses and a lovely review of 06/16/94, thanks to the wonderful Richard Davie. Added a poster to 10/05/96. Added photos to 04/16/10 and 09/27/10. Added notes and a source to 04/16/10. That's all for now. Happy New Years, friends! - MR.
December 16, 2010: Gornandez and Flickr to the rescue
First and foremost: There are rumblings of a Soundgarden live album, quite probably culled from the 1996 tour (remember when the band posted an mp3 of "Spoonman from 11/30/96 back in March?). This is EXCELLENT news, as this will be their first real live album. I can't wait to hear it! As for the Live Guide, I updated it right after the Conan O'Brien appearance in November but never posted it here. I'll try to cover everything that has been updated (there's a lot!). The following updates are thanks to Gornandez (you rock!): Added the following new dates: 02/22/86 (Seattle), 05/xx/89 (Enger), 06/03/89 (Fribourg), 02/05/90 (Orlando), 04/12/90 (Utrecht), 11/10/91 (Cleveland) and 01/30/92 (Ventura). He also helped me immensely in figuring out the chaos that was the January - March 1990 North American tour. I think finally it's mostly correct, with a few dates from 2/28/90 to 3/05/90 still in question. One thing we learned was that Soundgarden did not take days off during this time, with a whopping 57 (confirmed) shows in 32 states (and provinces) over 68 days. I can only imagine how tired the guys must have felt by March 1990. Gornandez also helped me confirm untold number of venues, too many to even list here. He also pointed me to ticket stubs or setlist of 04/12/90, 04/14/90, 06/10/94, 08/13/94 (for which we finally have a complete setlist!) and 09/22/96. Thanks G! Also: a big thanks to Richard who sent me scans of reviews from 01/19/90 and 04/05/90 as well as ticket stub scans of 06/13/92, 04/10/94 and 08/27/95. Thanks Richard! Added photos and corrected venue (and country) of 06/01/89 thanks to Martin! It's awesome to have photos from such an early show! Thanks to Beth for letting me link to her photos of 12/07/89. Very cool of her! Her photos are AMAZING! Also added links to photos of 08/26/95, 07/09/96 and 11/23/96 (the last thanks to Lee!). Added a large number of links to scans of reviews, thanks to Mona on Flickr. Also: added recording information and partial setlist to 11/17/88, updated info for the two 1989 LA dates (12/07 and 12/10/89), added a new (old) date in 07/06/90 (thanks to Mona's scans); it is nice to finally confirm that this show did indeed happen! Added a ticket scan for 10/17/91; added a song and source information for 11/08/91 (thanks for the tip, Gornandez!); added a new date with setlist and recorder info for 02/01/92 (Compton); added a song and source for 05/28/92; added a song to 07/29/92; added songs to 02/04/94; added full setlists for 04/02/92 and 10/15/96; and of course, all information to 11/09/2010. If I have forgotten your contributions or you feel I used something of yours without asking, please harass me so I can thank you for it! With 2011 around the corner, this will be the last update of the guide for awhile. I'm very busy with work right now and there just is not a lot of time to add to the Guide. Don't fret though - there are excellent things in store for the site in the future, when I have time to work on them. Or when I get excited about a possible Soundgarden tour and feel like staying up late every night for two weeks to work. We'll see. Thanks to everyone and Happy Holidays - I'll see you all in 2011 - MR.
October 20, 2010: new shows, old shows and clarifications
Gornandez is the man! Courtesy of him we have clarification on the Florida run of February 1990 and UK run in April 1990, added a video link and a song to 06/30/1990 (Finland), venues added to a string of February 1992 shows and a full setlist for 1/31/97 (Adelaide, AUS - and no, they did not play "Hands All Over", alas). Thanks, G! Many, many other updates here: added full setlist, picture and poster for 06/06/1989 (Rome) thanks to Marco, added ticket stubs to 09/11/1992 and 09/13/1992 (both Lollapalooza), thanks to Nancy; added a song to 08/23/1995 (Dublin) thanks to a couple of folks on the Soundgarden forums, added a ticket stub to 09/16/1996 (Glasgow), and thanks to Thomas, we finally have a setlist and details to 10/17/1996 (Oslo). As for 2010 updates, added information on Telephantasm to 05/14/1989, 05/18/1996 and 09/xx/1996 (MTV). Added two new photos, a link to a short pro-shot video and more recording information to 08/08/2010 (Lollapalooza). I also added a new show since the last update, the Guitar Hero launch party on 09/27. If I used photos without permission, please let me know; it's so hard these days to keep track of where everything comes from! As for upcoming Soundgarden shows, rumors of an Australian tour have proven untrue; as of now there are no upcoming Soundgarden shows scheduled. A full tour would be much appreciated! Until more dates are announced, it looks like the waiting game is the only one in town...
September 07, 2010: 1989stavaganza
Added many 1989 dates and fixed venues for every show of the 1989 fall tour, thanks to Gornandez. Great work! Fixed dates for Rome (6/06/89) and Bergamo (6/09/89) thanks to Marco. Excellent work! Fixed the venue for 10/29/89 thanks to Tom. Noted 12/08/89 as cancelled, thanks to Craig. Added a song to 7/27/90. Added a partial setlist for 7/16/94. Added a song to 8/23/95. Added information to 8/30/95 and a new page to 10/15/96, thanks to Tmekt. Added a setlist and recorder / mic information to 9/02/95 thanks to V. Finally, added a source and more notes to 8/08/2010 (Lollapalooza). We still don't have concrete tour dates for the band. I have to think they will come, right? Apparently Big Day Out has been all but confirmed for next year. Add more dates, guys!
August 10, 2010: LOLLAPALOOZA!
Added setlist, photos and notes to the Lollapalooza set. Also added poster and video link for the 4/16 Showbox gig and poster, additional photos and a new source to Thursday's Vic Theater show. As of this writing there is no known source for Lollapalooza. As far as old shows go, here goes: added a new date, 4/14/90* in Brussels, Belgium thanks to Motorvision on the Soundgarden World forums. From here on out I will refer to new shows (that is shows that now have a link with additional information with a *. Added setlist and source information for 3/02/90 (Denver, CO)*. Added advertisements for 2/23/90, 7/25/90 and 4/16/92* (Portland, OR on all three). Added ticket stubs to 2/19/90*, 4/02/92*, 4/28/92, 8/01/92*, 8/18/93 and 7/02/96. Added photos to 8/12/92, 5/27/94*, 7/10/96 and 7/30/96. Added screenshots for 3/17/90 (thanks to TeamDZ), 2/08/94 (Kawasaki, JP) and 6/04/94 (Berkeley, CA). Fixed dead photo links for the 1987 late winter show and added a link where you can purchase a poster of a classic Soundgarden photo from this show. Finally, added a tour advertisement for the 1994 Japanese shows. We still aren't much closer to solving that mystery but this is a start. Last but not least, there are rumblings of an Australian tour early next year. It goes without saying that this would be a welcome developement. Let's hope there are more tour dates planned than just this. Keep the faith!
August 06, 2010: Vic Theater!
Updated the setlist for the Vic Theater show in real time, thanks to my buddy Chris. Also fixed dead links in the 1996 and Related Performances section, updated and uploaded the Mislabels guide and fixed some information in the FAQ. In addition to the Vic show, added a poster to 2/24/88, screenshots for 3/23/92 and a ticket stub for 7/09/96. It's good to be back.
August 03, 2010: VERSION 4.0 LAUNCH!
After almost five years of inactivity, I'm proud to launch the new and much-improved Soundgarden Live Guide. I've spent the last five years collecting information for v4.0 and the last several months rebuilding this site. There is tons of new information, as well as some new guides that supplement the main Soundgarden Live Guide. Please take some time to go through everything that's changed since the last update almost seven years ago; in particular, please read through the FAQ and the Mislabels Guide; I'm hoping this site will help eliminate some of the rampant mislabels that plague the Soundgarden trading community.
If you have any questions or if I used your photo or ticket scan without asking first (and this does happen-I apologize for advance...it's hard to clear everything first), please don't hesitate to contact me, either via email or through my blog. I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can.
Enjoy the new Soundgarden Live Guide! I hope it was worth the wait.
